Actual Proof: Gas Prices Were Rising FAST!

Here's a classic example of just how FAST the price of gas was rising this morning!... (You won't believe this.)

First, an example of what we saw LAST night... just a few short hours before the Thursday morning rush hour traffic:

2.83 was the highest priced gas we spotted here in Nashville. It was enough to send us into 'shock & awe'... as this was also the first time we'd seen 3.00 on ANY gas station sign!Caution... No gas here! Gas stations seemed to be running out of Regular unleaded gasoline.
Most gas stations were out of Regular Unleaded gas on Wednesday night.

What's Your 'True' Gas Mileage?

If you're wondering...

  • What's the average mileage for my vehicle?

  • Are other drivers actually getting the mileage that's posted on the window sticker?

  • How is gas mileage determined anyway?

  • How can I track my gas mileage online for free?

  • Where's the lowest-priced gas in my neighborhood?

  • What's a FUN way that I can "play along" and help other drivers by sharing my own experiences?

...then you're definitely going to enjoy this 2-part article, including highlights about two cool websites:

  1. YourMPG
  2. GasBuddy

There's A Lesson Here Somewhere...

Jim driving -- a frequent activity of his. Just two short months after posting this about Jim's June 10th speeding ticket in Kentucky (after 200,000+ miles ticket-free!)... then this about Jim getting ANOTHER warning on July 31st here in Tennessee...

He manages to rack up yet ANOTHER speeding ticket this weekend -- this one in Indiana!

So, what's the lesson here?...

Mr. Speedy's Luck Runs Out: Police Warnings & Speeding Tickets

Jim's been skating through "life on the highway" by the skin of his teeth for years now.

He's gotten FOUR (4) warnings for speeding -- and that's just in the time that I've known him.

Jim's most recent 'police warning' for speeding in Arkansas... Notice his violation?... 'Speedy!' This was BEFORE the ticket he received last night.

Every time I'm in the car with Jim and I comment about his driving, he always reminds me of the fact that HE's never been in an accident (I've been in 3 minor "incidents", of which NONE were my fault...) and HE's never gotten a ticket (I've gotten 3, but wait til you hear what for!!!).

Jim's had no incidents or tickets... Til now!

In Search Of Something On Sale...

At which point does "a good thing" become "too much of a good thing"?

Kohl's department store in Cool Springs, Tennessee. Case in point: I venture into my favorite department store: Kohl's. Upon walking through the door, I'm immediately greeted with lots of "SALE" signs: "huge sale"... "MEGA-sale"... "up to 30% off" sale. You get the idea.

I'm thinking: "Lucky me. I've picked a good day to shop at Kohl's!"

The goal in my mind now switches from: "look for that pair of jeans that I came to buy" to: "check out what's on sale".

Identity Theft Hits Close To Home...

There have been a number of cases of "sensitive data" getting into the wrong hands and impacting the security of customers' personal information lately.

Truth be told, it's hitting close to home now...

Most recently, alerts have been posted for:

  • Time Warner's current and past employees

Everyone's stressing. No one feels safe anymore. People are placing blame everywhere you look.

    But hey, it happens.

    It even happened to ME!
