Cell Phone Insurance: What You Need To Know Before You Buy It
Personally, I'm one of those pre-paid gals when it comes to cell phones.
But I have friends and family, who have actual cell phone plans and those super fancy smart cell phones.
Insurance for cell phones is something that comes up once in awhile in conversations.
My brother who used to work for a cell phone insurance company claims you don't really need it. Here are 10 reasons not to insure your cell phone.
My best friend swears she has to have it. Of course she loses her phone at least twice a year, so I guess it makes sense for her.
So, do you really need cell phone insurance or not? Well... maybe. Consumer advocates say to keep these things in mind:
- You have to pay a deductible of $50 to $100, as well as a premium around $5 per month.
- You might get stuck with a refurbished phone that is not the same one as you lost or broke. It also might not be worth as much as the phone you lost or broke.
- You should check around online for cell phone insurance programs. There are some that cost the same monthly that are better because they don't have the deductible.
