When it comes to makeup, I've always believed that you get what you pay for. I have had some real problems associated with putting cheap products on my skin. All the same, I have decided to watch my pennies in the makeup aisle.
When I saw there was a sale at Target on makeup last month, I grabbed up a few items that were marked down to $.78 cents each. I didn't really pay attention to the brand name. When I got home, I realized that they originally cost only a dollar. I tossed them in the car and forgot about them.
Two weeks ago, as my daughter's drama club prepared to put on a production of Bugsy Malone Jr., it was announced that the kids needed full sets of makeup.
They needed foundation, mascara, blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick. I shook my head thinking about how much my budget would be blown.
On the drive home, however I remembered my stash of makeup from the sale at Target. I dug the makeup items out, (which included everything except foundation) and gave them a second look.
The brand name was e.l.f., something I had never heard of before. While I was wary about putting cheap makeup on my daughter's face, I knew it was only for a week, and that we would be putting a quality foundation on her face under it, so we gave the e.l.f. products a try. Well, the makeup went on wonderfully, stayed on all day (they had 2 shows each day), and did not cause a breakout or allergic reaction on my pre-teenage daughter's face.
After the play was over, I discovered that e.l.f. stands for eyeslipsface and the makeup can be found at eyeslipsface.com, as well as Target stores. The best part: all products cost just $1.
It turns out that e.l.f. products focus on providing high quality products for low prices. The products are meant to accentuate beauty and not hide it.
Our favorite e.l.f. product was the Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara. My daughter is still using it because it makes her eyelashes shine and allows her to groom her eyebrows without looking too old for her age.

Only a dollor! WOW!
I LOVE the e.l.f products and have also found them at one of the "Dollar Stores" (don't remember which one)in the Houston area. We had gone to Houston for my brother-in-law's 60th birthday party and had forgotten my make-up. So i ran in there...figuring surely one day of cheap make-up would not ruin my face. Low and behold... what i found was e.l.f. Have been using it ever since.
